D-FY-IT
Drug Free Youth In Texas

D-FY-IT is an acronym for “Drug Free Youth in Texas.” D-FY-IT is a nationwide, voluntary, incentive based anti-drug program that utilizes a urine test to enter the program. Random tests are conducted throughout the school year. D-FY-IT members are issued an ID card with their name, picture, and expiration date that allows them to receive discounts from participating businesses.
The students are tested for amphetamines, cocaine, marijuana, methamphetamines, opiates, and alcohol. The D-FY-IT coordinator schedules the random testing. The School utilizes an outside drug counselor who works closely with the program and is responsible for counseling any student that may test positive. D-FY-IT reports only to the student and parents when a test comes back positive. There is no school or law enforcement notification or involvement.
This program is completely dependent on the support of the local community. The people and businesses of the Amarillo area can help students in this community lead substance-free lives in the following ways. Parents can also serve by volunteering time to assist in the testing or help facilitate special events. Merchants help by giving discounts to members of D-FY-IT, and by donations.
Donations can be made to the program by contacting Kim Matheson, D-FY-IT coordinator at Highland Park. We are so excited that you are considering investing in the students who make good choices by making discounts available at your business. Donut Stop of Amarillo and Canyon allows each student member to receive a dozen free donut holes, everyday. Some of the fast food restaurants in the area give a 10-20% off any purchase. These are just a few examples of how some businesses have decided to show their support for this program.
Thank you for considering this investment.
A special thanks goes out to Crystal Bates for all her hard work in soliciting donations and sponsors for our D-FY-IT program. Crystal graduated from Highland Park in 2002 and was a model student then and still holds a special place in her heart for the students of Highland Park. Thanks Crystal!!!!!
